Youth Ministry Coordinator

overview:

In coordination with the CYF team, the Youth Ministry Coordinator will lead the ministry plan engaging 6th through 12th grade students and their families. Trinity employees commit to representing the Trinity values of grace, service, generosity, engagement, faithfulness.

primary responsibilities:

  • Develop a growing youth ministry program that is reflective of the congregational vision and theology.
  • Create a Christ-centered and contextually effective strategy for youth ministry based on the strategic plan presented by leadership (Pastors, Church Council, Finance Committee, Staff Leadership Team).
  • Recruit and support volunteers serving within youth ministry through clear expectations, training and opportunities for ongoing leadership, initiative, and independence.
  • Oversee and execute the Confirmation and High School programs.
  • Plan the 9th grade Confirmation Service in coordination with the Pastors and Director of Faith Formation.
  • Recommend new youth ministry initiatives to congregational leadership after collaborating and reviewing with the Director of Faith Formation.
  • Develop an active summer plan of ministry.
  • Meet the financial expectations of the preset annual youth ministry budget.
  • Communicate effectively with direct supervisor, Trinity leadership, peers, and members.
  • Scheduled office hours under the supervision of the Director of Faith Formation.
  • Other duties and responsibilities based on needs of the church.

qualifications:

  • A minimum of a college degree is required.
  • 2 or more years’ experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Commitment to the mission of Trinity Lutheran Church and to a lively theology of youth ministry.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively as a member of the Trinity staff.
  • Ability to follow direction as given by Trinity leadership.
  • Aligned with the Trinity culture expectations.
  • Knowledge and comfort in technologies such as computers and communication platforms.
  • Effective time manager and ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
