This Lent, we're putting God's love in action by making Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Personal Care Kits. LWR has been serving those in need for 80 years. Across the globe, families are suffering from compounding crises such as war, violence, extreme poverty, disease, and extreme weather including flooding in North Carolina and California fires. We want to announce to the world that Christ makes a new season possible, a Season of Hope. We are excited to engage in this project as a community during our Lenten journey.
Cleanliness may not actually be next to godliness, but it certainly helps a person feel more human. When families feel their homes destroyed, or must flee for their safety, soap and a towel serve make the cut for what they can carry. Arriving in a refugee camp or other place of safety, they are scared, vulnerable and dirty from travel. The simple items included in a Personal Care Kit provide much-needed self-care, critical germ fighting, and the chance to regain dignity amidst situations of fear and uncertainty.

Each kit contains bars of soap, a bath towel, a toothbrush, a comb, and nail clippers.
These essential items are bundled in the towel and distributed to individuals and families in need.
