Faith Statement

Confirmands are asked to write a two-page statement of their faith. A “Guide to Writing Your Faith Statement” can be found here . Faith Statements can be submitted any time, but they must be turned in *before* a Faith Conversation can be scheduled in August or September.

Faith Project

We’ve added the option for students to do a Faith Project in place of a Faith Statement. Students now have the option to create a Faith Project that they feel expresses their personal faith in a way that than writing cannot. Examples of possible Faith Projects are:

  • If a student is a dancer, they could create a 3–5-minute dance that represents their faith
  • If a student is a painter, they could paint a picture that represents their faith
  • If a student is a musician, they could write a song about their faith, or perform a song that they feel represents their faith
Requirements

We’ve added the option for students to do a Faith Project in place of a Faith Statement. Students now have the option to create a Faith Project that they feel expresses their personal faith in a way that than writing cannot. Examples of possible Faith Projects are:
  1. Faith Projects are accompanied by 1 written paragraph explaining why/how the project represents the student’s faith
  2. The student is comfortable with their project being shared on Confirmation Sunday, either during the worship service or in the gathering space before/after worship
  3. *Important* All Faith Projects need to be approved before the student starts the project. This is to make sure the student’s idea for a Faith Project truly meets the requirements that writing a Faith Statement would have met. Students can either send an email with their Faith Project idea or schedule a time to meet with to talk about it
Please us know if you have any questions about Faith Projects – we’re very excited to see what the Class of 2022 comes up with!

Faith Conversation

Each student is required to meet one-on-one with Pastor Adam, Pastor Ann, or Jason Folkerts, Director of Spiritual Formation, before Confirmation Sunday. A Faith Conversation Sign-Up will be emailed out at the beginning of August for students to
schedule a time. For this 30-minute Faith Conversation, students should be prepared to:

  • Discuss their Faith Statement or Faith Project
    • Faith Statements need to be turned in when the Faith Conversation is scheduled so that the staff your student is meeting with has enough time to read the student’s statement before their conversation
  • Demonstrate memorization of the Lord’s Prayer
  • Demonstrate memorization of the Apostles’ Creed

Confirmation Bible Verse

Each student will choose a Bible verse that is meaningful to them and submit it to Linda by August 31st . Please make sure to indicate the Bible translation/version you prefer.

Confirmation Sunday, Rehearsal & Pictures

Confirmation Sunday is October 30, 10:30 a.m.

A Confirmation Sunday dress rehearsal is Wednesday, October 12, 8:00 p.m. Confirmands and their parents are required to attend. Students should dress nicely for the pictures even though they’ll be wearing robes (you can still see what they have on

under the robe in the photo). Our photographer requires each member of the class to purchase a group and individual photo. Additional photos can also be ordered. Photos will available Confirmation Sunday.

Worship Notes

Students are expected to complete their worship notes (27 total, 9 for each year they were in Confirmation) before Confirmation Sunday. Please check with Linda in the Trinity office at 952-473-8577 or email at lindak@trinitylonglake.org about notes. If you have completed notes that you haven’t turned in, please turn them in as soon as possible. Students who fill out notes at worship in person get credit for 2 notes. Students who fill out notes online get credit for one note. All of Trinity’s Worship Services are on our YouTube Channel and students can fill out notes for any worship they’d like to watch. Worship notes are available to complete or by texting “REFLECTION” to 952-473-8577.
